LOS ANGELES, CA–(Marketwired – Apr 2, 2013) – Fame is influence. Actors, athletes and musicians all have one thing in common — exposure. Their lives are led in the public domain, giving their audiences unrestricted access to what they do, where they go, how they shop and what they endorse. Entertainment PR firms face the challenge of fine-tuning this influence through media to fulfill the needs of their clients.
This was the hot topic as Eileen Koch of Eileen Koch & Company sat down for a roundtable discussion (via www.PRWeekUS.com) with PRWeek alongside PMK*BMC, United Talent Agency, 20th Century FOX Films, Starz, Red Bull Media House, The Axis Agency, BMI and YouTube to talk about the status of the Entertainment industry today and what is means to be a content-conscious “brand.”
With the rise of social media, celebrities and budding businesses alike can now deliver content straight to their followers without using traditional mediums, a unique development for PR professionals.
“Not everybody is the ‘theatrical’ celebrity,” Eileen observed. “They could be chefs or hairdressers. Social media has opened the door for the ‘average person’ looking to gain publicity and build their business.”
The panel also highlighted how Facebook, YouTube and other websites have changed companies’ approach to media strategy. Traditional publications still allow easy access to industry professionals, but Entertainment firms have to be savvy enough to work with clients that self-publish through blogs and remain true to their online “voice.”
“My big focus [in the future] will be client education on the latest technologies and getting them to understand their values,” Eileen stated.
With media outreach the proof is in the pudding, but convincing clients that their money is well-spent remains a top priority. Data is always reassuring, but sometimes difficult to produce. “It’s still hard to show clients the value of what we do,” Eileen said, “but if we can get there, it takes us up another level.”
The roundtable discussion was jointly hosted by PRWeek and PMK*BMC, and was the first to feature the heavy hitters of Los Angeles’ Publicity and Marketing industry.

LOS ANGELES, CA- (Feb 24, 2013) Celebrity stylist Eric Archibald (eric-archibald.com) sat anxiously on the set of E! Live From the Red Carpet at the Hotel Roosevelt on Oscar Sunday as he waited for the highly anticipated red carpet arrival of his client, Jennifer Hudson. With an 80lb weight loss since her Academy Award debut in 2007, the Oscar winner, styled by Archibald, donned a slinky, body hugging Roberto Cavalli Couture metallic blue gown (hand beaded in Paris), paired with Giuseppe Zanotti shoes and a Jimmy Choo clutch. Notorious for making best-dressed lists, Hudson was the perfect muse for the couture ensemble.

During the E! Live From the Red Carpet pre-Oscar show, Hudson told Ryan Seacrest, “It took three days of fittings, three hours each day to make my decision. It’s a serious decision. My stylist cried tears of joy [when I finally decided].” In response, Eric told E! “Jennifer likes to be comfortable, and feel like what she is wearing is a second skin. She looks amazing.”

With a huge smile from behind the scenes at E!, Archibald rushed to the Dolby Theater where he prepared Hudson for her upcoming live performance. Not only did she “wow” on the red carpet, the singer/actress brought audiences to their feet with one of the most powerful and memorable Oscar performances to date. For her breathtaking Dreamgirls performance of “And I Am Telling You I’m Not Going,” Archibald dressed the starlet in a copper KAUFMANFRANCO crystal encrusted linear column gown.

To complete Oscar night, Archibald attended the Vanity Fair after-party with Hudson, making sure every thread was in place, as they relished in the Oscar history that had been made. The stylist humbly said, “Dressing Jennifer for the Oscars is such an honor, and I’m so grateful that I have the opportunity to showcase her beauty through such amazing fashion and designs.”

The NY native, known for his celebrity clientele, also recently dressed Jennifer Hudson in a curve-hugging black and white ensemble for her chilling Super Bowl 2013 performance of “America the Beautiful” with the Sandy Hook Elementary students, as well as the 2013 Inaugural Ball where she performed “Let’s Stay Together” for President Barack Obama, and First Lady, Michelle Obama.

LOS ANGELES, CA–(Marketwire – Feb 5, 2013) – Super Bowl Sunday provided much more than victory or defeat for fans of the Baltimore Ravens and San Francisco 49ers. Prior to kickoff, Jennifer Hudson stunned the world with a heartbreaking rendition of “America the Beautiful,” accompanied by the surviving children of Sandy Hook Elementary School.

Eric Archibald, personal stylist to the Oscar winner, worked hard with Ms. Hudson to meet her high standard of fashion, but took great care not to overshadow the presence of the survivors.

Eric chose to highlight the emotional performance with simple black-and-white tones, dressing Ms. Hudson in a black leather top by Monika Chiang, a white pencil skirt by L’Wren Scott and decorating her feet with black pumps by Yves Saint Laurent. The outfit was carefully designed to bring subtle focus to the singer during her televised performance, while blending in and connecting her with the white and khaki outfits of the 26 elementary children with whom she shared the stage. “Jennifer wanted simple and classic,” Eric says. “She herself has overcome great tragedy and it was all about paying respect to the moment.”

Eric and Jennifer furnished the outfit with one bright touch: a green ribbon pinned to her top in honor of the 26 victims of the Sandy Hook Elementary shootings. In late 2008, Jennifer’s mother, brother and nephew were fatally shot by William Balfour, the estranged husband of her sister Julia. The tragedy of Sandy Hook Elementary spoke closely to her own experience, and the singer later spoke about the honor and the emotional challenge of performing with children whom she regards as “inspirational.”

“Little children being survivors like that…that is the part that took me back in,” Hudson recalled. “They are conquerors, they are survivors. And they’re babies.”

Eric Archibald also recently dressed Ms. Hudson for her performance at the 2013 Inaugural Ball.
