Los Angeles, CA – February 2026 – Mixed-media artist Peyote has announced plans for his debut solo exhibition, slated for summer 2026 in London, following a recent project connected to The Walled Off Hotel in Bethlehem, the internationally recognized art space associated with Banksy.
Known for creating bronze sculptures and paintings inspired by internet-native imagery, Peyote is pioneering what he calls “meme art,” a genre translating the symbols and visual language of digital culture into museum-caliber fine art. His work reframes viral imagery through traditional materials, creating a contrast between fleeting online moments and enduring physical form.
The upcoming exhibition will mark the first major presentation of Peyote’s meme art works in a solo setting, introducing collectors and contemporary art audiences to a body of work rooted in internet anthropology, generational identity, and modern communication.
Before focusing on meme art, Peyote was active in the early 2000s street art movement, traveling internationally and collaborating with prominent graffiti artists. While he saw street art as a pivotal cultural shift, he ultimately sought a medium that could more permanently capture the voice of a generation. That realization came through internet meme culture — a visual system now used by individuals, brands, celebrities, and world leaders alike.
“Memes are how humanity communicates now,” Peyote says. “They carry layered meaning in a single frame, and they move faster than any art form in history. My work is about preserving that language in materials meant to last.”
His recent involvement with The Walled Off Hotel represents an early milestone in bringing meme-based artwork into globally recognized contemporary art spaces. As digital-native symbolism continues moving from screens into galleries and private collections, Peyote stands among the first artists working to formally establish meme art as a recognized fine art movement.
Peyote is currently developing new sculptural and painted works ahead of his debut solo exhibition in London, with final dates and venue details to be announced.
