LOS ANGELES, CA–(Marketwired – Jan 23, 2015) – Since ending his NFL career, former 49ers quarterback Ed Blount re-tailored his life’s purpose to helping others; he created the Moore Hope Foundation to sponsor the betterment of families in urgent need of support. On Saturday and Sunday, January 24 – 25, 2015, the foundation will hold its first annual Flag Fest, a 5 on 5 Charity Flag Football Tournament & Music Festival at Victory Park in Pasadena, CA, for youth and adults! This year’s celebrity host is Kristoff St. John, star of Young and the Restless.
“I’m humbled by the show of support from the people we’ve helped,” Ed stated. “We’re excited about benefiting more families at this year’s tournament!”
Supporting the 2015 event are Red Bull, Under Armour, Super Bowl MVP Mark Rypien, and Entourage producer Wayne Carmona. ALS advocate Shonta Scoggins, founder of Eric’s Vision, will speak during the halftime of the military “Tactical Bowl”. Participating high schools include Pasadena, Westminster, Chaminade, La Salle, Maranatha, Arcadia and Saint Francis. Teams will be divided up amongst four skill divisions according to age and ability level; Saturday, each team will compete in a 4-Team Round Robin Pool for placement in Sunday’s Championship game, which will be filmed and announced for later use in broadcast.
The entry fee and/or signup cost is $250.00 per team. Each participant will get a swag bag (sweatshirts, t-shirts, toothbrushes, and in-kind donations) or hoodie courtesy of Under Armour; 300 women’s sweatshirts and 200 bags will be handed out. A mixed group of athletes, military personnel, celebrities and youth players are expected to be in attendance; admission is free to fans and spectators, but please bring a gift of canned goods to benefit the City of Pasadena’s Food Drive to feed families in need.
