EKC PR Announces the Release of CIA Drugs R Us! — A New Documentary Uncovering Covert Government Operations Targeting Musicians and Activists

LOS ANGELES, October 11, 2024 /PRNewswire/ — EKC PR proudly announces the release of filmmaker John Potash’s highly anticipated documentary, CIA Drugs R Us!, continuing his deep dive into the CIA’s covert use of drugs as tools for social control. Set to release on October 8, 2024, the film builds on the themes explored in Potash’s earlier work Drugs as Weapons Against Us, and will premiere on platforms such as Tubi, Amazon Prime Video, and Google TV. A special edition DVD, featuring over 18 minutes of bonus content, is also available for pre-order at major retailers including Barnes & Noble, Walmart, Target, and Amazon.

The documentary takes an investigative look into how U.S. intelligence employed mind-altering substances through the infamous MK-Ultra program to influence musicians, activists, and social movements. Potash uncovers how figures such as John Lennon, Kurt Cobain, and Tupac Shakur were targeted in efforts to undermine their impact on countercultural and activist movements, shedding new light on covert government activities.

“This film is about exposing the hidden forces that have used drugs to manipulate and suppress influential voices,” says Potash. “These operations had—and still have—profound effects on society.”

In addition to examining how drugs were used to target individuals, the documentary delves into the CIA’s involvement with larger social movements, including the Black Panthers, SDS, and the Manson Family. It also connects to scandals such as the Maryland Catholic Church sex abuse cases featured in the Emmy-nominated series The Keepers.

Produced with meticulous detail, the documentary offers authenticity through archival footage, expert commentary, and rare documents. Potash’s research includes evidence from firsthand accounts and newly discovered materials that reveal the extent of U.S. intelligence agencies’ role in shaping history through the use of drugs.

The film is expected to spark important discussions about the lasting implications of these hidden agendas in today’s world.
