LOS ANGELES, CA (November 21, 2013) – The Brent Shapiro Foundation (www.BrentShapiro.org), founded by renowned attorney Robert Shapiro and his family in 2006 after the devastating loss of their son, is gearing up for the holidays with a spectacular block party celebrating the official launch of Brent’s Club, a sober program that provides middle school children incentives to abstain from drugs and alcohol. Hosted by The Variety Boys and Girls Club in Los Angeles, the invite-only event will feature a cavalcade of exciting activities for families to enjoy, as well as a special dedication and ribbon cutting ceremony by the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
The Brent Shapiro Foundation is an all-volunteer organization that fights the disease of addiction via educational resources and academic scholarship motivation. Since its inception, the foundation has provided drug counseling and inspiration for hundreds of rehabilitated youth to obtain scholarships and pursue higher education. Through the new program’s hands-on approach, kids who stay clean, remain in school and ‘do the right thing’ are encouraged to make personal investments that will benefit their lives long-term.
“We’ve gained enormous momentum over the years and this program will give us the opportunity to provide very important resources and services for the community’s at-risk youth,” Robert Shapiro remarked. “I’m proud that we continue to play a part in saving the lives of young men and women each day.”
Adorned with a Ferris wheel, photo booth and plenty of fabulous music, the Brent’s Club Launch Party is expected to match the standards set by last year’s wildly successful fundraiser, as party guests will dine on delicious food from two of LA’s most popular establishments, The Grilled Cheese Truck, serving unique grilled cheese sandwiches, mac-and-cheese combinations and melts, and Get Shaved, serving refreshing shaved ice and mouth-watering ice cream sandwiches.
WHEN: Saturday, December 14, 2013 from 12:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.
WHERE: The Variety Boys and Girls Club, 2530 Cincinnati Street, Los Angeles, CA 90033.
