BEAGLE FREEDOM PROJECT AWARDS $50K GRANT TO DR. ALISON GRAY, FOUNDER OF AFABILITY, IN SUPPORT OF GROUNDBREAKING ENDEAVOR THAT ELIMINATES ANIMAL USE IN LABORATORIES
LOS ANGELES, CA (March 6, 2017) – The national non-profit, animal rescue and advocacy organization Beagle Freedom Project (BFP), recently announced four chosen winners of its first ever ‘Beagle Freedom Prize’.
Of these winners, Dr. Alison Gray (researcher at the University of Nottingham’s School of Veterinary Medicine and Science) was awarded with a $50k grant to fund AFABILITY – Dr. Gray’s non-commercial scientific organization striving to replace the use of animals in antibody production by using Animal Friendly Affinity Reagents (AFAs).
“AFABILITY’s mission has always been centered on the fact that we want to reduce, and one day eliminate, the number of animals used in the biomedical sciences,” explains Dr. Alison Gray. “Through the support of an amazing animal advocacy organization like Beagle Freedom Project, we are able to further explore opportunities that could one day make major significant changes.”
The Vice President of Beagle Freedom Project, Kevin Chase, states “BFP is proud to support Dr. Alison Gray, as she is spearheading an incredible cause that will change the way laboratories and researchers are operating today. We believe that all animals should enjoy a life filled with lots of love and zero suffering.”
BFP negotiates with laboratories around the world for the release of beagles and other animals, helping to set them free from the grueling life of being tested for cosmetics, products, and scientific curiosities. To date, the organization has rescued hundreds of animals worldwide, and continues to work diligently at promoting cruelty-free lifestyle choices that everyone can make.
