Los Angeles — Former WNBA star, two-time Olympic gold medalist, and filmmaker Angel McCoughtry is set to make her feature directorial debut with the psychological thriller Apt 6B. The project is being developed under her production banner, McCoughtry Entertainment, and is currently in pre-production with plans to begin filming this March.

McCoughtry will direct and executive produce Apt 6B, with casting now underway. The film follows Lady Blue, a decorated police officer hiding a devastating secret, who awakens to find herself trapped inside her deserted apartment building. Her only encounter is Billy, a guarded teenage boy who appears equally lost. As they search for an escape, a violent and unseen presence begins to stalk them, forcing both characters into a tense fight for survival.

The project follows McCoughtry’s first film as a writer-director, the short Bygones, which is set to premiere on Prime Video on February 1. The film explores themes of mentorship, forgiveness, and accountability through the relationship between a young basketball player struggling with confidence and a former coach confronting a painful past. “Storytelling has always been another form of competition for me,” said McCoughtry. “It’s about honesty, impact, and pushing conversations forward.”

In addition to her work in film and television, McCoughtry leads McCoughtry’s Mission, a foundation dedicated to youth and community empowerment. McCoughtry Entertainment is actively building a development slate focused on culturally resonant film, television, and documentary projects that amplify underrepresented voices and explore themes of identity, resilience, and reinvention.
