In a time when authentic storytelling is more vital than ever, veteran producer David Parks brings a heartfelt and timely narrative to the screen with The Short Game. The indie feature follows Jeremy, a teenage golf prodigy whose pursuit of a college scholarship is upended when he’s asked to care for his younger autistic brother. What begins as a story about ambition evolves into a powerful portrait of family, responsibility, and emotional growth.
Shot in Sherman, Texas during record heat and amidst the SAG-AFTRA strike, The Short Game has already garnered 18 festival selections and 6 Best Picture awards. Starring Ben Krieger and featuring a breakthrough performance by neurodiverse actor Owen Himfar, the film champions both inclusion and resilience — on and off the course.
Produced by Parks and directed by Frank Sanza, who lives with Parkinson’s, the film is a testament to friendship and perseverance in the face of creative and personal obstacles. With its thoughtful approach and universal themes, The Short Game is poised to leave a lasting mark on the indie film landscape ahead of its nationwide release via Abramorama on August 29. The project is currently represented by EKC PR, a Los Angeles-based public relations firm specializing in entertainment, talent, and film publicity.
