EKC PR client Sue Obeidi, Director of the Muslim Public Affairs Council’s Hollywood Bureau (MPAC), has had a very busy and successful week!
In early October, our team secured two exciting opportunities for Sue with Variety. The first – being chosen as one of the panelist speakers at Variety’s 2017 Inclusion Summit, held on Wednesday, November 1 at The Montage Hotel in Beverly Hills, CA.
Among other top-notch executives in the industry, Sue spoke during the panel for Mentoring the Entertainment and Media Industry, where the group explored the efforts made at entertainment and media companies on mentoring new generations of talent, and supporting an increase of inclusion among its ranks. Topics of discussion included which programs are succeeding across film, TV, music and digital that help boost success among under-represented communities, as well as who today’s mentors are that devote themselves to advancing inclusive policies at their companies.
Moderated by Dr. Stacy Smith, Associate Professor of Communication, USC Annenberg School, Sue was one of five speakers that also included:
• Vicky Colf, Chief Technology Officer, Warner Bros. Entertainment
• Rodrigo Garcia, Director (Bull, Big Love, Last Days in the Desert) and CO-CEO, Indigenous Media
• Alex Grimwade, Chief Information Officer, 20th Century Fox
• Karyn Spencer, VP, Creator Lab, AT&T
The second – Sue was included in Variety’s 2017 Inclusion Impact Report (published on October 31), which showcases individuals (from rock and rollers to respected writers and actors, etc.) who are currently bringing inclusivity to the fore!
