The Lost Boys Reunite For 25th ‘Hook’ Anniversary To Remember Robin Williams
Spoiler alert: They grew up.
Aug. 9 marks a major anniversary of one of the most successful film adaptations featuring J. M. Barrie’s fantastical characters from Peter Pan. Yes, that’s right. Steven Spielberg’s celebrated sequel, “Hook,” starring the late Robin Williams as a grown-up Peter Pan, turns 25 this week.
To honor Williams and the film’s legacy, the cast participated in a retrospective photo shoot to show how the Lost Boys have fared decades after Peter left Neverland for good.
Williams’ death, of course, weighed heavily on the actors at the reunion shoot, as the late comedian became a role model for many of the young boys on the set during filming.
“I think for all of us [Robin’s death] was the death of our childhood,” Dante Basco, who played Rufio, the leader of the Lost Boys, told Entertainment Tonight. “There’s sadness there, also there’s a lot of space to kind of celebrate one of the most legendary artists of our time. … [Robin] really taught me at a young age what it means to be a star, what it means to be a leader on a set. Everything you want Robin Williams to be, he delivered in spades.”
Basco later shared some photos on his Facebook page that would even make Captain Hook experience a twinge of nostalgia.
The cast also posed for individual photos, mirroring their character’s poses and outfits from the original film.
22 Vision, the LA based production company that arranged the anniversary shoot, promised on Facebook Tuesday that they plan to deliver even more “Hook” content this week.
And we only have to repeat this phrase to make it happen: I do believe in “Hook” anniversary goodies. I do believe in “Hook” anniversary goodies. I do believe in “Hook” anniversary goodies …
