LOS ANGELES, CA–(Marketwired – Nov 24, 2014) – Jackie Sleight is known in numerous circles of entertainment. Over the course of her illustrious career, Jackie has danced, choreographed, directed, taught and worked with some of the biggest names in the industry including: Paula Abdul, Joe Tremaine, Rod Stewart and many more. Her talent for instruction manifests daily at the LA Dance Magic Dance Convention, which she founded in 1999 to help provide a nurturing environment for students to explore and challenge themselves in dance without feeling intimidated.
“I’ve been lucky enough to foster the talents of incredible people,” says Jackie. “I believe that success comes from staying current; if you are always learning, collecting new knowledge and building on your past experiences without throwing anything out, you cannot fail.”
Jackie Sleight’s philosophy encompasses a strong foundation and dedication to form, motivating others to reach the peaks of their personal potential. The majority of her former students and assistants have gone on to have major careers, such as Brian Friedman (creative director for America’s Got Talent and choreographer for Britney Spears and other high caliber talent), as well as Tyce Diorio (Emmy-award winning choreographer from So You Think You Can Dance).
Following her early success with the Roland Dupree Dance Academy, Jackie founded “A Sleight Touch,” a group that would go on to tour and perform with Peaches & Herb, Yvonne Elliman and other A-list acts. She then created a follow-up success act, “Boys’ Club,” which alongside “A Sleight Touch” won Star Search seven times and ultimately, the Grand Championships. An inspired entrepreneur, Jackie also innovated the fitness trend “Free Dance” that found national recognition in health clubs across the United States.
The LA Dance Magic Dance Convention will be traveling across the country to 17 cities this season! For full tour dates, visit www.LADanceMagic.com.
